Buddhist Oncology Chaplain

Brenda (Nyoshin) is a graduate of the Buddhist Chaplaincy Program at Upaya Zen Center (New Mexico); she was ordained as a chaplain by Roshi Joan Halifax in 2023. She is a member of the College of Health Care Chaplains, European Buddhist Union Chaplaincy Network, International Buddhist Psychotherapy and Chaplaincy Working Group (INEB), as well as the Zen Peacemakers Order. 

Brenda is also a Chartered Psychologist (British Psychological Society). She directs the Psycho-Oncology Lab at the University of Derby where she also serves as a senior lecturer and co-director of the MSc Health Psychology Programme (staff profile). Brenda is a member of the Division of Clinical Psychology, Faculty for Oncology and Palliative Care, and Faculty of Clinical Health Psychology within the BPS. She is also a member of the International Psycho-Oncology Society and British Psychosocial Oncology Society.
